Recovery of Granite Fynbos veld above the Arboretum in two-year-old veld after the 2015 fire in Upper Tokai Park. The purple flowers are the Peninsula Hooded Storksbill – which, incidentally, is one of the parents of the Regal Geraniums popular in Europe – is one of the resprouters preventing erosion. The many species and many guilds present attest to how fast and comprehensively restoration can occur from seed banks. Only the rarer and more specialised species will need time to restore their natural populations.
